History
I have always had an interest in programming, which could be expected. Both my parents are programmers, and I was gaming online at 6 years old.
I got my first email account when I was 8 and made my first website when I was 9. I was a child of the internet. I didn’t continue my web career for many years. Instead, I picked up C++. C++ was what actually gave me the foundation of my programming skills. I programmed in C++ for a year or two.
At the age of 15 or so I was asked by a friend of mine if I could help them with website work, because I had done a little here and there. My dad knew more than I did, and helped me with the project. This is where I built the first version of what I now call the “DMS” (Database Management System). It gave a client a nice way to control dynamic content on his site.
The first version was literally a blue background with white text and buttons. When I was 16, they needed more work to get done. So, little by little, I learned more PHP. I took online tutorials anytime I needed to learn anything, and breezed through it all.
By the time I graduated my high school, I knew 8-10 web programming languages. Upon graduation I started looking for clients and promoting myself. In my free time I did more tutorials, worked on my own website, and improved my ability to handle what clients needed. If a client said they needed something, I would go out of the way to fully learn the subject.
In the first few months while work was building up, I learned a few more languages and really began to become confident in a few of the other areas.
I continued to build my DMS, now with a nice design and interface. It is secure and has been used to host 100s of pages. Whenever I couldn’t find a script I needed, I would spend, perhaps, a couple days, writing my own.
Even though I have no been programming a little bit over 2 years full time, I have a full array of skills. I plan on sharing all of my solutions to the various problems I encounter on this blog.
Enjoy!
